There are now seven devastated families, and a shocked and horrified nation. My heart aches EQUALLY for those lost last night in Dallas, as for the young men shot in Louisiana and Minnesota. I know that every day, men and women in uniform step out into danger to protect and serve us, and I am eternally grateful for the multitude of good officers who keep us safe.

For starters, blackballing is not to be confused with public ridiculing or open slandering. In the political arena or even at a comedy house, mudslingers and hecklers are quickly identified. The heckler actually wants the center-stage; they want the video tape to roll; they thrive on attention. These brash and staunchly opinionated opponents posture their own truths by brazenly challenging anyone who should differ. They continuously gab and blab because they want to be heard by all that want to listen, and even those who would rather tune them out.

Just when I think I can't be any more outraged at the prevalence of police shootings, just when I am sure that I have maxed out in terms of shock, sadness and outrage, something happens to make me even MORE enraged. The video of the shooting of Laquan McDonald is shattering. It shows an officer shooting a young man SIXTEEN TIMES, who was nowhere near the officer, not lunging or making any threatening move, and .....several other officers on the scene WHO DID NOTHING!!!!
