The Women and Gays Theory

Here is a comment that I ran across on social media. This kinda gives an idea of what the other side is thinking. The writer clearly has objection, but I have to wonder, could a ploy to make the Black male non-relevant be plausible? Is the Black male so threatening, that a ploy to remove him altogether is a consideration of the other side?

Recently, I have encountered two women in the party that articulated a thesis that if the Democratic Party just relied on Women and Gays it could avoid a lot of messy minority issues.

That might work in some legislative districts, but the strategy would not work overall because it is implicitly assuming "White Women & Gays".

Without minority Women, the Democratic Party does not have a majority and minority Women are concerned about both women's issues and minority issues.

African American Women have sons and the Trayvon Martin case shows that African American Women are very concerned about the future their sons face.

The Democratic Party has a big tent, and we shouldn't fall for the allure of smaller tent tactics, the way the Republican Party has.

Big tent, inclusive, tactics can be messy with a lot of agendas, but big tent, many agenda tactics are needed for Democrats to win big and unless Democrats win big we can't accomplish our legislative goals such as health care for all.
