Redistricting. Geraldine? Val? What About Derrick Wallace?

Interesting scenarios taking shape with this redistricting thingy.

Senator Geraldine Thompson leaving the safety of her Florida Senate seat to run for a new position with larger borders. The Orlando Sentinel explains that Thompson, 66, of Windermere, served for six years in the state House of Representatives before being elected to the Florida Senate in 2012.

Thompson noted that all of her current state senate district is contained within the borders of the

newly-drawn proposals for the congressional district. She said it was time to seek to offer "a broader level of service."

'Former Orlando Police Chief Val Demings said Monday she is making a second run for Congress,' as reported in the Orlando Sentinel.

Demings spent 27 years with the Orlando Police Department, the last four as chief, intends to start her campaign on her strength - reform of criminal justice.

District 10 changes dramatically because the Florida Legislature is trying to move several Orlando-area African American communities from District 5, which stretches all the way to Jacksonville.

I was just thinking, this redistricting is enhancing Black politicians potential to win more seats. So, I was wondering who else might join or rejoin the political game.

What about Derrick Wallace? Derrick placed second in the primary for the Orange County Commissioner District 6 seat and also second in that general election. His credentials are good and he will speak up against police brutality and he certainly knows how to create jobs and bring them to our community.

Derrick Wallace also has an plan for the community that will work.

What if Derrick Wallace ran for the Senate seat that Geraldine Thompson now holds but will vacate, would you support him? Do you think he can do the job? Do you think that he will be the one to really make a difference?

I think now is the time for him step up again because we really need his leadership. What do you think?
