I NEED YOUR HELP

Gas Can

As most of you know, I have been very busy trying to keep everyone informed as to what is going on in our community. Me, my volunteer support team, the advocacy group that I am associated with and you, my readers, followers, fans and those who liked my page, all have helped us in different and various ways, to gain and analyze information that our community needs to know, in order to grow and thrive.  Here are a few things that we do and have done over the past months and years.

What We Do

Review many hours of videos from the OCPS Board meetings

Review many hours of videos from the Orlando's City Council Meetings

Create and submit Public Records Requests to several agencies

We spend hours reading and analyzing budget reports, projections and other documents
from other agencies like Orange County Commissioners meetings.

Research and analyze court records and documents

We drive all over the county chasing information that may impact our analysis.

We walk the neighborhoods and knock on doors to get information.

We walk the school path that our elementary students take in early morning hours to witness the hazards they might endure on their adventure to get educated.

We visit homeowner association meetings to learn of their issues and get input.

We have joined the SAC and Booster Club at schools in order to be more helpful.

We scheduled and paid for town hall meetings to share information and solutions

We filed a compliant with the Dept. of Justice

We do all of this and we try to hold our leaders accountable
Much more

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

Our community residents need to know what is going on in our neighborhood. We need to know who make the decisions that affect our lives and we need to know why those decisions were made. It seems that our community is always on the losing end and there is no justification for these actions. For instance;

They call the devastation going on in Parramore area progress, we call it gentrification

They foreclosed on several apartment complexes on Mercy Dr., displacing hundreds of low income families, because the owner would not fix them up and would not pay the mortgage. They allowed that same owner to bid to repurchase the property and possibly do it all over again.

They said that they will hire Black contractors to build the arena, and then they said none are qualified. Twenty years later, they build a new arena but still can't find local qualified Black contractors.

They put big box retail stores in our neighborhood to create low wage jobs. They put medical centers and research centers in their neighborhood to create high wage jobs.

They build schools in their neighborhood where minimum children live then rezone the area to bus children from other areas to fill those schools

They bus our children and our money to their neighborhood then close our schools because of low enrollment.

They give tax breaks to out of state companies for them to move to the county and create jobs but they will not give tax breaks to local existing small businesses already in the area to create jobs.

And more, and more, and more
