A Harsh Reality Of Black Justice

Justice ScalesI try hard to be an informed citizen. I try harder to be fair and impartial when it comes to the actions of the general public; as well as law enforcement officers concerning their behavior toward African Americans. The stories of the people shooting unarmed black men by white men and law enforcement officers continue to emerge day after day. In all instances, individuals insisted that there was a justification for using deadly force.

What is hard for me to understand, is why we don't constantly see white men finding themselves on the other side of these same deadly scenarios. With the white male population out numbering the black male populations by millions, it is bewildering that we don't see more stories related to unarmed white males being killed in the same fashion.

I know people will say that it is because young black males commit crimes at a higher ratio to their population than do others ethnic groups. Even then, with there being so many more white males, mistakes should happen just as often. Poor white males steal and get involved in violent crimes; so why are they not shot when walking home from the store? White Teenagers play their music loud but I have never seen one of them get shot because they refused to turn down the volume. I am sure there are instances where white males had to go to their car in the middle of the night; but they were never shot 15 times by policemen.

Every once in a while you will hear of a black male shooting someone, but rarely will you hear of that individual going free. African Americans are very familiar with acquittals and lite sentences for others when it comes to violating the rights of minorities. What is painful is the number of white Americans who are unable to see the unjust behavior of these white men that get involved in these situations.

Each and every time African Americans read these stories, we are confronted with the racism being the main factor. We continue to believe that there is little improvement in race relations in decades. How can those that want us to forget the past believe it is even possible when we see daily stories of criminal behavior being perpetrated on the young and old African American male. We want so much for these issues to disappear and become a permanent part of the past, but with availability of the Internet the stories become even more front and center.

It would be so nice when all races of people can look at a set of circumstances and see the same thing. Maybe that is an unrealistic dream as well. I pray and my heart goes out to the African American Families who deals with these issues first hand. I can't begin to imagine the pain created by these types of un-justices. When a love one is killed is this manner, it becomes a harsh and permanent part of an individual's memory.
