Beware The Lying Tongue

Book of Psalms

God's Word Trumps All

David the King, (politician) teaches us an invaluable lesson when dealing in the arena of politics and politicians.

This is the word of God. It is always true all of the time, regardless of the congeniality, personality or charismatic nature of professional politicians. Psalms 120: 1-4

In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me.

2 Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

In the area of politics you are going to be surrounded by lying tongues. The political liar is never satisfied and will continue to bear false witness against the righteous because they  are seeking influence over people without paying the price of integrity and honor. Truly, they could never pay such a high price since they’ve shown neither integrity nor honor in this case. But they have put their faith in this “power”. However, it is only a perceived power. The perceived power of their lies and falsehoods embolden them to increase in their falsehoods and untruths. ~ JF

3 What shall be given unto thee? Or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?

The bible says, “Thou shall not bear false witness.”  This is one of the 10 Commandments. The lying tongue does not believe there will be consequences for telling untruths and bearing false witness, particularly against the defenseless and God’s anointed.

4 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.

What will be the consequences for the lying tongue. God says through the Psalmist “sharp arrows…” this means that the consequences for the liar will be quick, sharp, cutting, penetrating and fatal wounds of the arrows of God. Even the most prolific skilled political liars will not be expecting these arrows and ill equipped to respond to survive them. Though the political liar may be skilled enough to duck, dodge or ignore the hard questions by infatuated reporters or enamored and naive community members, he will not be able to avoid the arrows of the Almighty
