In a previous post I reference "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey. Well, for those of you who love shortcuts, I found an old article from Forbes Magazine dated, 7/24/2012 called "The Only Thing You Need To Remember About the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Forbes writing contributor, Eric Jackson. This article was written a week after Stephen Covey had passed away. Jackson whittles Covey's "7 Habits" down to 2 nuggets of timeless wisdom.

Here is the most significant excerpt of his article.

"If I had to boil all these (7 Habits of Highly Effective People) habits down to two, they'd be:
(1) Do something. Just stop sitting around and take action. Every minute you're sitting around checking Facebook, you're not taking action getting you closer to you dreams

(2) Plan what you're taking action about. Don't just take action willy-nilly. Actually have a plan. Think things through. Do one thing in the right order before you need to do the next thing in order to get where you want to go.
That's it."

The "7 Habits" is one of the best life strategy, time management books ever written. If you are a mover and a shaker and haven't read it then you are robbing yourself of valuable life planning and goal achievement wisdom. Forbes contributor, Eric Jackson, has done a pretty good job of condensing the general power principles of the "7 Habits" into two kernels of truth.
I thought his summary was worth reading and hence I've shared it with you.

Keeping in step with Mr. Jackson's idiomatic writing style, I have whittled the overarching subliminal lessons of this post down to 2 nuggets of truth also. In addition to the overt message of this post, the 2 overarching subliminal lessons that you should extract from this article are:

1. "LEADERS READ". Here are three Reasons Leaders Read:
a. Reading is educational and reminds you of what you've already learned.
b. Reading challenges your mind to discover new ways to work through problems, issues and things.
c. Reading gives you an opportunity to mentally interact with the thought leaders of our time and time past.

2. SOMETIMES SHORTCUTS ARE GOOD HOWEVER, THEY ARE NO SUBSTITUTE FOR COMPREHENSIVE UNDERSTANDING!
In the holy scriptures the Prophet Isaiah said,
The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

ISAIAH 50:4
BIRTHING THE DESIRE IN YOU TO READ IS ONE OF THE WAYS THAT THE LORD GOD GIVES YOU THE TONGUE OF THE LEARNED.- Pastor Joe Flores
