Well known motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar would tell anecdotes about growing up during the Great Depression in Yazoo City, Mississippi. In one story, he said that he tried to be at a certain neighbor's house for lunch everyday because they had a cook and the cook had something to cook.

He was at the neighbor's house for lunch one day when the cook brought the biscuits out and Ziglar noticed that they were flat. He asked the cook, 'What happened to your biscuits?' The cook just laughed and said, 'you know Zig, biscuits squat to rise, but these just got cooked in the squat.'

The biscuits were properly prepped, the right amounts of necessary ingredients were present and the oven was heated to the proper temperature, but...

I worked with Regina Hill in her bid to beat the 16 year incumbent for the District 5 position in 2014. After we won, I asked Regina will she consider running for Mayor of Orlando. She said yes. I asked her that question again when we won her reelection four years later, and again, she said yes. I considered her response a future goal.

The future is now. Regina Hill is ready to be Mayor of Orlando. She has all the ingredients and knowledge needed. She knows how the system works. She has made all the right contacts and she has done all that the current administration will allow her to do. She should be ready to rise, but...

There needs to be someone available to make sure that District 5 don't fall behind in Regina's absence. The best person available to take over the care and growth of District 5 is Shaniqua Rose. Shaniqua has been doing the work for years even without the title.

We are in the mist of a win - win for District 5 if we elect Shaniqua Rose as Commissioner and then support Regina Hill as our next Mayor.

We, the voters must vote for Shaniqua Rose for District 5 Commissioner in order to prove to Regina Hill that we support her for Mayor. This one gesture will unite the Black community. Regina Hill is poised to rise and run for mayor. If she doesn't rise now, she may well get cooked in the squat.
