DARE Books

#BHMUpgrade Day 25 of supporting a Black Business brings me to DARE Books in Longwood, Florida in Seminole County FL (North of Orlando). Owned and managed by Desmond A. Reid, #DAREBooks has been in operation for 38 years. For 28 of those years DARE served Brooklyn and NYC school districts and, for the last 10 years they have served our Central Florida community with a collection of thousands of African-centered book titles from children's books, to fiction novels, to historic texts, and more. With a focus on cultural awareness DARE carries more books produced by Black authors and publishers than any other book store in the region. Open everyday except Sunday, Mon - Fri from 10 am to 6 pm, Sat from 11 am to 5:30 pm for book purchases, the store is also available to host events any day of the week. Jamaican in heritage, Owner Desmond Reid is committed to ensuring book with a Black focus have a home and are readily accessible.
