Candidate for Orange County District 2 Takes Time Away From Campaign Trail to Provide Rights Restoration Information
On Friday, February 28th, local attorney, Greg Jackson, who is also a candidate for Orange County Commission District 2, will be a featured speaker at a Rights Restoration Forum in Orlando's Parrramore area. With there being a growing movement to address clemency issues in Orange County, Florida, Attorney Jackson is teaming up with community activists and clemency advocates Desmond Meade and Lashanna Tyson.
"In the State of Florida a significant number of residents with past felony convictions are seeking to have their civil rights restored so that they can participate in the voting process," said Attorney Jackson about the program. "We will provide individuals and their families with the information necessary to assist with their restoration of rights."
Also participating in the forum will be Regina Hill, Candidate for Orlando City Commission District 5. In addition to providing clemency information, this program will also have a station set up where individuals can learn of their clemency status. At the last Rights Restoration event attended by Attorney Jackson, several people were able to submit clemency forms and at least one attendee learned that her rights to vote had already been restored without her knowledge.
The Restoration of Rights Forum will be held at Harvest Baptist Church, located at 514 South Parramore Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801, with a 6:00pm start time. "Call a Doc First" is sponsoring a free fish fry for this event. The public is invited to attend this event
