With only 30 days in office, City of Orlando District 5 Commissioner Regina Hill has been accused of using her political power to assist her constituents. Channel 9 alleges that Commissioner Hill inappropriately referred unemployed constituents to the reopened Blueprint office.

Commissioner Hill states 'what I am doing is trying to assist my constituents with employment'. Channel 9 alleges that the fact that Commissioner Hill referred her constituents questions her ethics. However, I believe that by not assisting her unemployed constituents then her morals based upon her campaign promises would be into question. Finally, an elected official is actually attempting to maintain their campaign promises. I guess when you look at it that way; then I agree with channel 9, it is indeed 'breaking news'.

The real question is should more elected officials go out their way to assist the everyday working constituents with a hand up opposed to a hand out? The real question is why have so many profited off the backs of everyday people opposed to empowering them not been into question? The real question is why is it that more elected officials are not keeping their campaign promises by assisting those who voted them into office?

As promised during the campaign, Commissioner Hill firmly believes that assisting people with job opportunities in District 5 is the right thing to do in order to move the District forward.
I interviewed Commissioner Hill and she is ecstatic to have the opportunity to hit the ground running in such a short period of time. She believes that if a Commissioner assisting a constituent is 'breaking news' then it is clear that there are so many more barriers 'to break' in politics.
Commissioner Hill is aware that with real change comes a consequence and is prepared to continue to firmly stand for the people and with the people.
