It is with heartfelt empathy that I write this. Over the years, we as a community have always stood together in tragedy and various hard times. Due to the recent turn of events, I am saddened to hear of the passing of the Winifred Mount, First Lady of the Historic Town of Eatonville, Florida, America's first black Incorporated town.

As we mourn her loss together, let us throw our hands around Mayor Bruce Mount and family in our sincere prayers and support. After the recent loss of my sister "Pearl", I am reminded of a comment from Winnie offering her condolence. As most of you know this past Saturday, February 28, 2015 I laid my sister to rest. Winnie unselfish act of compassion went beyond the exchange of names, but to a deeper place that lifted my spirit and comforted to my heart. For that, I am greatly appreciative. Thank you "Winnie".

In Celebration of the Life of 1st Lady, Winifred Mount. I would be remiss in not acknowledging her impact, influence and presence in the Eatonville community. The City of Eatonville has indeed loss a precious jewel and the value she has brought us is invaluable.
