“Obviously there is a lot of frustration with our attorney general. You can name the botched programs. Fast and Furious has been one of the No. 1 complaints we get in our office and why no one has been held accountable,” says Cat Cammack, chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho R-Gainesville, Fla.
The Fast and Furious program was conducted by Federal Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearm, agents for 15 months, where they supplied Mexican cartels weapons to infiltrate their operations.
The program was a failure, lost 2,000 weapons, and 2 firearms ended up killing a U.S. agent. A group of Republican lawmakers asked Attorney General Holder to resign, even though he acknowledged the program was started with President Bush, and he never knew the details involved with the operation.
Attorney General Eric Holder has always been on the hot seat as the first African American Attorney General in America. The Republicans, the Tea Party, and conservatives have always disapproved with the Attorney General’s policies which focused on violation of civil rights, corporate and Wall Street dishonesty, and voter suppression. Many Americans, who do not agree with the attorney general’s position, believe he is a liberal and wants to turn America into a socialist country.
On the other hand moderate Americans in the center, African Americans, Hispanics and folks on the left are ecstatic with the work the attorney general is doing on a daily basis. Attorney General Holder has been very aggressive by suing states which are discriminatory with their laws and practices. “If a state passes a new voting law and meets its burden of showing that the law is not discriminatory, we will follow the law and approve the change,” says Attorney General Eric Holder.

It appears that our attorney general is fair and impartial but conservatives and Republicans find themselves on the wrong side of his decisions, and they argue that he is not doing his job. In 2012, the hard line Republicans issued a “Contempt of Congress” against the attorney general, that went nowhere, but that does not mean these hardliners are going to stop. Congressman Pete Olson (R-TX), is initiating articles of impeachment against Attorney General Eric Holder for high crimes and misdemeanor at the present time.
The four charges are: 1, Refusal to comply with a subpoena issued by the House Committee on Oversight and government Reform on October 12, 2011, regarding Operation Fast and Furious; 2, Failure to enforce multiple laws, which is a violation of the oath, of duties of the office of Attorney General; 3, Refusal to prosecute the IRS officials involved in the targeting and disclosure of tax records belonging to political donors; and 4, Perjury—False testimony under oath before Congress on May 13, 2013, about the Justice Department investigation of journalist James Rosen.
Only one cabinet member has been impeached in the history of the country, and that was in 1876. In order to go forward with the impeachment, the Speaker of the House John Boehner would have to bring the charges for a vote on the House floor. There is no way the speaker would bring an issue like this to the floor, unless he knew the charges were credible and winnable.
At this point it is just noise and chatter from the radical elements in the House, and I would have to agree with Oprah. “Movies like “The Butler” and “12 Years a Slave” don’t point to problems of the past but rather spotlight the issue that is still prevalent today. The issue of racism will continue unresolved until bigoted thoughts of class and race, the human indecency that accompanies it and racism that has been taught to so many generations is eliminated,” says Billionaire Oprah Winfrey.
