Juan Lynum's Elephant In The Room

If you don't talk about it, maybe it will go away. There is this little bitty problem of Juan Lynum's residency issue. Juan Lynum is a candidate for Orlando's City Commission, District 5. The rules state that a person has to be a bona fide resident of the district to qualify as a candidate for this office.

It appears that nobody want's to talk about this issue. The City Clerk, Alana Brenner told Lawanna Gelzer that she wasn't going to do anything about Juan's residency questions. Now, no one want to talk about it. The problem didn't go away it just went silent. The rules are still the rules and Juan Lynum is still not qualified to run in this election. Why won't anyone talk about that?

According to Fox 13 in Tampa, Juan Lynum is identified as a resident of Tampa. In the news video, Juan talks about transportation issues in Tampa in 2011. When did he relocate back to Orlando? Did he move from Tampa to Sumter County first? Sumter County is where his primary residency is, according to Sumter County Homestead rules. Does this matter?

When did he leave Sumter County and move back to Orlando into the home with his mom, Daisy Lynum? Of course, his wife and new baby are residing in Tampa and Juan said that, (paraphrasing) "It is crazy to believe that I would live in Tampa with my family."

Juan's residency issues and therefore his qualification for this contest is in question. Yet, no one want to talk about this. The very people and organization who should be questioning this type of issue are staying quiet.

Juan refuses to debate, instead relying on 'conversations' with the voters. This presents a safer environment for him. Everyone seems to avoid the question of him qualifying.

Now, social organizations have adopted this stance of avoiding the issue. Even going so far as to hold a mock event that legitimizes Juan's candidacy. This is a shame. This is a sham. The Orange County NAACP, the AACCC should at least present the question of qualifications. They won't. No one wants to talk about the elephant in the room. The Orange County NAACP, the SCLC, neither branch of National Action Network, the Black caucuses nor other elected officials will speak up for the voters. Even the Orange County Democratic Executive Committee talked about it in private and decided to be silent about it in public. It appears they all want to maintain the status quo an pretend not to see the elephant in the room.

Juan is not a legitimate candidate for this race, and should remove himself from this contest. So, I guess it's up to Juan Lynum himself, to prove he is a man and can stand on his own. He will garner an elephant load of respect from the voters if he takes his pet for a walk.
