Commissioner Sam Ings and The Black Leadership Failed Again

Will someone explain to me please, why Sam Ings hosted an obvious county inspired town hall meeting on Monday night? Samuel Ings, Mayor Pro Tem, Orlando City Commissioner, District 6, and this gathering was clearly a town hall meeting directed to inform about possible changes to the Orange County Charter Amendment.

The celebrity guest to be roasted was County Commissioner of District 2, Fred Brummer. Mr. Brummer wants to make some changes in the way the county does business. The changes that Mr Brummer wants to make are clearly not in the best interest of the residents of the county, especially the minorities or the democrats.

Mr Brummer spoke and answered questions about these new rules and regulations and changes to

the way the county works that he initiated. He wants to close some tax offices and to make the tax collectors position an appointed one rather than an elected one. He wants to increase the number of county commissioners from six to eight. Commissioner Brummer also wants to redraw the districts to accommodate the new seats. Brummer's plan will allow Florida's Gov Rick Scott to appoint these new commissioners.

Mr Ings is obviously up in arms about these county changes that will serverly limit voters from being informed about candidate's party affilications, democrat or republican. Ings wants to keep the rules in place so that voters will know whom they are voting for. He wants the residents to know that candidates are qualitified candidates. Mr. Ings wants everyone to know that the county candidates are not persuading voters to believe that they are democrats when they are really republicans.

I think that this was a well put together program for the county. The National Congress of Black Women, Inc. (Orlando Chapter) did a great job. The issues are relevant, timely and very important to the voters. Mr. Brummer had to leave so he did his thing then scooted away.

A panel was positioned to make short statements and answer other questions that may be asked. Rev. Randolph Bracy and Kran Riley were two of three people on the panel.

All in all, information presented and discussed was relevant to the community and the voters. Commissioner Sam Ings and The National Congress of Black Women, Inc. (Orlando Chapter), was very conscientious in puting this forum together.

As you already know, Sam Ings is a City Commissioner and he did this grand job for the county, but, where was Tiffany? Sam might not have noticed that some of those same piercing issues are confronting the city voters right now.

There is an election for City Commissioner District 5 less than eight days away. Commissioner Ings doesn't want Gov. Scott to appoint two county commissioner seats, but apparently, he is okay with Daisy Lynum and City Clerk, Alana Brenner appointing the city commissioner's seat.

Commissioner Ings can't stand the idea of an unqualified county commissioner, but he is okay with Juan Lynum homesteading in Sumter Counter while running for city commissioner in Orlando, thereby redrawing the district lines and gerrymandering to fit Lynum's needs, not the voters.

Commissioner Sam Ings, Rev. Randolph Bracy, Orange County NAACP President Kran Riley, The National Congress of Black Women, Inc. (Orlando Chapter) failed their mission on Monday night. They present themselves as if they are doing something for the Black community, when actually they are not. They scheduled this event in the Black community so that it would appear to support Blacks. It is not for us, it was a sham. They are failing the voters and the community.

The Orange County Democratic Executive Committee, Carlos Smith, National Action Network, SCLC, the Black Caucuses, the Black Elected Officials the State Black Caucuses are failing the Black community by ignoring the needs of the people who look to them for leadership. They continue to ask Blacks to register and vote, but never give them anything relevant to vote for. Maybe Blacks should reconsider voting until they find someone worthy of their vote.
