Silent Sam (Commissioner Ings): Duck and Hide

SamIngs2by Lawrence A. Robinson
Commissioner Sam Ings has a lot to say about Tinker Field, now that 'Poverty Pimp' Daisy Lynum is not a commissioner anymore having been displaced by new comer Regina Hill.  'Silent' Sam talk about issues that are not his own but is strangely silent when it comes to District 6.

During Daisy Lynum's reign, Commissioner Ings stayed in his cubicle and was quiet like a good subservant should be, agreeing to whatever Commissioner Lynum and Mayor Dyer wanted him to agree to, while doing nothing on his own and without having a single original thought.

But wait! As soon as it was evident that the Lynum's Legacy was trashed, Silent Sam finds his voice and

steps up to the plate to talk about saving Tinker Field. He's said nothing about saving or remodeling or expanding or memorializing it before now.

Why Now? What is so important about doing it now?

The Tinker Field issue is a very good issue for Silent Sam to be associated with. If the commissioners decide to deal with Tinker in a way that the community likes, then Ings win. He would have come out of no-where, hit a grand slam home run, trot around the Tinker Field bases smiling and waving his red tie.

But, if Mayor Buddy Dyer gets his way and Tinker Field is dealt with in a way that the community does not agree with, then 'Red Tie' Ings could say that District 5 Commissioners Daisy Lynum and Regina Hill dropped the ball. So in Sam's own mind, he will still win.

Wait a minute! Tinker Field is in District 5 and Regina Hill is the commissioner for that district. Silent Sam is commissioner of District 6. Hmmm...

Why is Commissioner Ings trying to lead the charge for a project in his neighbors district? Certainly he could and should assist newbe Commissioner Regina Hill. He could help show her the ropes of running a city. After all, he has been there for about 8 years. He should have learned something and should have done something by now. Sadly, after 8 years, Ings is still learning the basics and have done absolutely nothing of note for his district.

Commissioner Sam Ings Finds His Way Home

He never learned the rules.
Rule number one: You work for the people who elected you.

Ings hasn't learned this rule yet. He must believe that after the election, he can just stay out of sight and be quiet and he will be okay. He must think that by pointing to issues in District 5, no one will notice the lack of focus and attention that he should be giving District 6.

Maybe Ings believe that if he take on a highly visible issue, like the Tinker Field thing, folk will think that he is actually doing something.

That theory is not working.

Most people in Sam's District thinks that he is doing a terrible job for them. Conversations with Carver

HillaryPharington1Shores Homeowners Vice President, Hillary Pharington and other residents reveal that Sam Ings has done nothing for this area. Hillary Pharington is a long time resident of Carver Shores, over 30 years. He,(yes, Hillary Pharington is a man) and other residents agree on one thing; Commissioner Sam Ings is not good for the community.

The parents in the area want Commissioner Ings to do something about 'Gator Alley'. They don't want their children walking the mile long alley way with alligators on one side and dense woods where fugitives of the law possibly live on the other. Silent Sam has ignored their pleas.

Residents said that if they had just one bus and one bus stop, to pick up all the kids that are walking the path, then that would solve the issue. Some children cry all the way through the alley way because of fear of alligators and snakes.

It should be embarrassing to Sam Ings that Regina Hellinger stepped up to the plate to support his constituents when he won't. Regina Hellinger is a candidate for School Board District 3. She actually walked the path and said that she would never allow her kids or her constituent children to walk this path.

It would be embarrassing to Sam, but only if he cared.

Several parents walk the gator path with their children and watch guard over all other children every morning but feel that this is the job of the administration.

Commissioner Sam Ings and School Board Representative Kat Gordon doesn't care. They only want the vote from these people, say other residents.

They say Commissioner Ings doesn't care and just ignores them. Except for the flowers and plants along some of the streets in the neighborhood, Silent Sam has done nothing for this district in 8 years except Duck and Hide from the residents.
