There are only a few occasions where we find Jesus giving God the Father direct praise. Mat. 11:25 is one of those rare occasions. It says, "At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes."
In Mat. 11:25 Jesus thanked the Heavenly Father for what He hid and from whom he hid it. In the same breath He thanked the Heavenly Father for what He revealed and to whom He revealed it. This raises four important questions for me from this text.
1. What was he hiding? 2. From whom was he hiding it? 3. What did He reveal? 4. To whom did He reveal it?
Answer to question 1. The Father was hiding the revelation of who Jesus was. 2. He was hiding it from the (arrogantly) wise and (condescendingly) prudent. 3. The Heavenly Father revealed who Jesus really was. He revealed Jesus full identity. 4. He revealed it to those who were child-like (humble) enough in spirit to receive this revelation. It may come as a shock to many but God is still hiding things and revealing things. He is still weighing the hearts of men for the depth of their humility to determine the measure of revelation they are worthy of.
The scripture is still true "...God resists the proud, but gives grace, unto the humble." The church is in desperate need of a revival of humility. And when it comes, authentic life transforming revelation will replace wardrobe, divine inspiration will replace entertainment's perspiration and God consciousness will replace self-consciousness. And the deep things in God will flow like a mighty river to many streams. He that hath an ear let him hear what the spirit is saying to the church. -Pastor Joe Flores
