In a column writing by Attorney taleph Haynes Davis, he seemed to infer that Regina Hill (or anyone else for that matter) had to beg for their civil rights back. To be an attorney, you would think that this individual would know better than to make such an idiotic statement.
When it comes to civil rights, no amount of begging is going to bestow that blessing upon anyone. This attorney, in all of his foolishness, needs to watch the documentary "Eyes on the Prize" in order to understand civil rights a little better.
After undergoing that history lesson, I would enroll him in a political course on why
civil rights are taken from so called offenders in the first place and how this dis-proportionately affects African-Americans.
Assuming he could make it through the semester, which I highly doubt, I'd next make him read up on how even the Obama Administration is carrying the torch on the Restoration of Voting Rights.
Eric Holder has been very active in the press lately on this issue. Since President Obama has termed out, he doesn't have a dog in that fight.
Nevertheless, due to it being such a pressing issue for people of color, he's waded into this war anyway. You'd think that an attorney as decorated as this buffoon claims to be would already know these things. Unfortunately, he was so quick to utter his opinion that he didn't take the time to thoroughly research the topic.

Regina Hill is the daughter of the District. She actually lives there and cares for the people. She wants to fight for what's right and is willing to be personally attacked in defense of what she believes in. She's been through hell and back and now, at a ripe and tender age, she wants help build the District and leave it better than how she found it.
In Attorney taleph Haynes Davis's defense, he probably doesn't care about Regina Hill, District 5 in Orlando, Black people and their right to vote or the restoration of Civil Rights for anyone on the planet Earth. Naturally, this is his right. Of course, now that we know that, we can stop listening to anything else he has to say.
