IT’S TIME TO PUT NEIGHBORS BACK IN THE HOOD

Neighbor+Hood=Neighborhood: Where has the neighbors gone? What’s the Hood? Once the neighborhood stopped having unity, disrespect towards each other, not caring for and protecting one another; it became just a hood.
We need to start, once again, becoming neighborly. Adults complain about the youth and young adults not respecting them; but the young adults and youth are also complaining about the adults not being positive role models, mentors, and advocates nor building positive environments in which to live either.
We must remember the children do not have the resources to build a community, not even to build a positive family environment. We as adults need to take a look at ourselves. What messages are we sending out to our children? How do we relate to our mates? How do we handle conflicts? Are you portraying a positive or negative image in our home and community? Do you always complain about what’s not being done, but never take action to even help anyone? Have you ever been homeless at any given time? Have you ever considered helping a homeless man or woman? Volunteer at a school or any hospital for sick children? You have to learn to care for others before you can humble yourselves enough to make a major change in a community. Do you have things that you can share with someone less fortunate but because of your selfishness you choose to keep it for yourself? Well your children see and do the same thing! “Raise Up A Child!”…
So now, we must make a decision to make a change within ourselves. This will then create a domino effect.
Do you support your local community businesses? Do you encourage, uplift and inspire your family members to follow their dreams or do you discourage them because it’s not your dream and can’t see it happening? There are many youth that I’ve worked with as well as mentored that have literally stated, “I hate my mother!” Now for any mother, that would truly be a stab in the heart. But there has to be a reason. It’s just like running a business; If you are not making any sales, you have to reevaluate what YOU are doing, It’s not what the customer is doing. It’s how you are running your business (household).
It starts with YOU! It’s Time for a CHANGE! ACTION! Get in the RACE! That’s the only way we can WIN!
Building up positive communities will also build a positive Country! But it takes all of us to do it. Stop sitting in the background talking about everybody else. What are you doing? Join forces with others and stop hating on them. Show that you are a part of the solution and not the problem.
